at home

i’m at home now!

no, not sick or leave or off or anything… going back office later… just slacking now. haha. kinda an experiment. noticed that many officers took long lunch breaks outside of camp, so i figured i could try drive out too and see how long before i’m missed. haha. think i’d aim to be back by 1430 or something. then i thought i’d come home and do some stuff first. so. here i am!

-goes slack summore-

slacking is funnest when you know you’re doing it instead of some dreary chore… no fun when it’s the only thing left for you to do… heh.

The Uncertainty of the Poet

Wendy Cope

I am a poet.
I am very fond of bananas.
I am bananas.
I am very fond of a poet.
I am a poet of bananas.
I am very fond.
A fond poet of ‘I am, I am’ –
Very bananas.
Fond of ‘Am I bananas?
Am I?’ – a very poet.
Bananas of a poet!
Am I fond? Am I very?
Poet bananas! I am.
I am fond of a ‘very’.
I am of very fond bananas.
Am I a poet?

parking

the world’s out to get me.

earlier at sim lim carpark. put the parking ticket in the machine, $4.80 i was to pay. shucks. in my wallet, i only had about $4.20 in small change. so i rushed back up and bought a drink using a $50 note (thus irritating the shopkeeper) and getting more loose change. so i went back to the autopay machine and inserted the ticket again.

$6.

BA018 LANDED 0611

back to work! -sigh-

mobile clock

freak. just realised (after how many months?) that there is indeed a setting for the nokia 6100 to display the time permanently. previously i had to rely on the screensaver (basically after a few sec of inactivity my hp screen will kind black out and show only the time).

oh well. at least i know now!

wallet friend equilibrium

i’m now one leather wallet richer, and one close-friend-in-singapore poorer. not a very good deal, i think.

right now i’m hovering the heathrow airport live flight arrivals page. sigh. how bored can i get?

oh yay. BA7309 LANDED 0501.

you know, i’ve always had this irrational fear of flying. i know it’s statistically improbable to die flying, but i always get rather worried when (i/friends) go on a plane. haha. for some reason, helplessly screaming while plunging to one’s death seems to be such a horrible fate as compared to getting involved in a dozen-car pileup.

might be because i’m afraid of rollercoasters. shush! it’s a secret, ok?

i suspect i’m afraid of them because when i was little, the one i was riding (the single-cart one at genting highlands) got stuck at the peak of the rail. was with my dad that time. so it was quite freaky staying up there not knowing when i’d finally have my two feet on the ground again. as i remember, they finally sent some staff climbing up the tracks to give the cart a little push.

tada. now i have an excuse!

and now i think i should return to my workstation. sigh.

screwy gums

don’t you just hate it when little bits of food get stuck in your gum? not between your teeth, but actually in the gums. then you dig and dig with toothbrush/floss until there’s blood and little chunks of food come out and you’re not sure if there’s any left.

or am i the only one in the world with such screwy gums?

last resort

have you ever felt useless? like, really, really useless? not the you-won’t-be-able-to-contribute-to-GDP type of useless, but the no-one-will-miss-you-if-you-poofed type of useless.

have you ever been misunderstood, but realised that your original intent was quite dumb anyway, so you let the misunderstanding stand?

have you ever felt the distinct discomfort of having feelings and thoughts trapped within a mind which does not quite know how to set them loose upon the world?

have you ever posted a blog entry only because you don’t feel you have anyone to turn to?

kid driver

i saw one of the funniest things just now.

was walking to petrol kiosk to buy some milk. along the way was this car, with the left signal light blinking. i was surprised to see some guy on the passenger seat. then i peered closer and realised there was a toddler in the driver’s seat! haha. his (presumably) father was playing with him… and the toddler was trying to turn the wheel back and forth (engine off, so the wheel was locked)… so cute!

man, that’s a really early headstart to driving!

materiel

did you know there’s such a word as materiel?

the weird things you learn in the SAF… =P
